Urlman, why your efforts are probably noble, but your reality is flawed. When it comes right down to it, artists only care about one thing...their art, or music in this case. That's why they have agents and managers. As long as they see some dough flowin' they are usually happy just worrying about putting out the music and putting on the show. The unfortunate reality is that without the promotion of most acts by their labels and interested parties, most of them would never "hit it big." I see a lot of good local/regional bands that just don't have the backing to make it big.

I don't like the same ol' crap on the radio just as much as you do, but let's face reality. At least MP3 has forced the hands of the big 5. They are finally responding and I think that the artists will do better in the end, than they would have otherwise.

Just an opinion.
