Unless RAMBUS gets cheaper real fast, the i820 is going to be asleep for a while after it's launch. When Solano shows up in January, the coppermine will be able to compete better on a cost/performance ratio...but in January...something else might just show up and spoil Intels little "catch up" party... Like I said, Intel is scramblin'...
Still no Floppermines on Pricewatch...going on two weeks from launch...
Even with the i820, about all Intel can say is that we can eek out some integer benchmarks vs the Athlon but "ya gotta buy this here...expensive chipset and very expensive RDRAM and find some SSE programs to do it"...
It seems to rest now on AMDs ability to pump out .18u chips...
