SDLI..picks from Battipaglia and Jubak..........."
Add SDL (SDLI)
SDL (SDLI) is part of one of the hottest stock groups in this market -- optical
networking equipment makers -- and despite recent appreciation, growth in that
market and enthusiasm for the group have a long run ahead of them, I believe.
The company makes laser pumps that go into products at Lucent
Technologies, Alcatel and Corning. In early November, analysts were
estimating that earnings for 1999 would hit 73 cents a share -- up 67% from
1998. But the consensus is likely to climb in the next few weeks. After all, the
company beat estimates by 22% in its most recent quarter. As of Nov. 5, my
target price for the stock is $158 a share by January 2000."

On the 1st day of an IPO I like to scalp them and COBT should be a winner for some. Best to buy these IPO's late in the day for the gapper. Every once and a while you'll have a runner and those are fun. ATON CRDS FDRY to name a few.
