the wage number appears to be totally bogus...beating expectations now on an economic stat really blows the spoos out, doesn't it?

The biggest reason for the rally were a couple of prominent last-second estimates in the 500k range for the non farm payrolls. While nobody took them seriously, they WERE reported. And all that matters is beating that crazy expectation. Next I expect to hear: "25 US cities destroyed by russian nuclear missles due to y2k bug- below expectations of 34 cities- Nasdaq futures up 20" Doesn't anyone realize it is logically impossible to disappoint if you except the worst every time? Oh wait, the analysts have realized this. Shag.
