his has provided me with a new and somewhat precarious situation, however. For the first time, I am making money and I am finding it very difficult to:

a) separate myself from a stock that is doing well;
b) identify a opportunity/time to get out.


LOL! Welcome to the club.

Knowing when to sell is perhaps the most critical part of the trade. . . I have a book scheduled that deals with this subject in depth.

Profitoften. . . .means as you thought. . . .don't let all your money ride on your winners. . . take some off the table when peaks are reached and buy back your position at a lower price on the dips. . . keeping your original long position intact. . . likewise, when it appears there will be serious downward pressure. . .short-sell the same amount as in your long position, to lock-in your profits, regardless of the direction the stock moves. . .

Picking the stock is the easy part. Profiting from it is the real challenge.
