Robert:

Back in 1997, I joined SI and needed a name. At that time I was bearish on the market--in fact I think I joined in September 1997--just in time. The name shark is the way I once traded in my youth. In 1997--after several years away from active trading--I thought I would start again in my old style. However, I recognized that my current lifestyle and personality were not consistent with that style of trading. The name was already posted when I realized that I had turned into a "kinder and gentler" bearshark.

Instead, I developed my trading system to fit the kinder and gentler me. That takes me to some things I have found to be helpful for myself since 1969. They include

1. The markets are made by people.
2. Study and understand people.
3. Know oneself.
4. If you become distracted, close your positions.
5. There will always be a tomorrow--if you can make it through the night.
