<Been on both sides of that one.>

So have I... (-:

Kind of interesting how people manage to develop various occupation-related forms of entertainment....

Back when I was working in a rather large parts department (in yet another of my 9 lives), we used to have a couple of silly tricks that we would play to create occasional excitement around the place...

One good one that took a little planning was to go up to someone's desk when they weren't around and "borrow" something that you knew the person would need pretty soon... uhm.... a pocket calculator was always an excellent target... or a FAVORITE pen..... something that would be used every few minutes... small, so it could be easily removed... and also small enough that the victim might think that he had lost in under a mess of papers on his desk, or in the trash, or even somewhere in the stockroom...

....then we waited....maybe about an hour... maybe even longer if we we felt that we could push it for that long without suspicion.... Ideally, the person should start to get annoyed and start cleaning up his desk,...maybe rooting through the trash can, or wandering around the stockroom looking on everyone's desks and the counters.... If you could accomplish that, you were ecstatic....

...but hold on... the story doesn't end there.... now we're getting to the good part...

Next, we would choose some parts bin in the stockroom... One that a few of us could see from our various vantage points...

Then, the "borrowed" item would be deposited in that box where everyone would have a chance to see the "action"....

Next, someone was appointed to make "The Call"... This was important... The chosen person had to be able to disguise his/her voice and also refrain from laughing while making "The Call".

Once "The Set-up" was arranged, it was Battle Stations Ready... and "The Call" was placed. It would go like this...

*RING* *RING*

Victim: Hello,... Parts....

The Voice: Check one.

Victim: Go ahead.

The Voice: F19Z-2262-A for 1

Victim: Yeah, I show one... just a minute while I check to see if it's there....

DUM-DUM-DUM-DUM-DUM-DUM.... all eyes watch expectantly as The Victim walks to the chosen bin.... and gently slides the cardboard bin box forward on the shelf... only to reveal....

DAH-DAH!!!! The Victim's missing calculator.....!!!! HURRAY!!! The wayward calculator has been located!!! Time to REJOICE!!! Shouts of HURRAY!! go up from all parts of the stockroom as the Victim either laughs or gets REALLY MAD depending on his temperament and mood that day...

Hmmmmmmmmmmm..... yes.... we did that to one poor guy about every 2 to 3 months... and he was such a good sport about it... even though we had him rummaging under his messy desk and through his coat pockets and inside his briefcase, and all through his trash can... ahhhh.... what a fine victim he made... he was THE BEST ONE we ever had...;-}>
