It sounds like you have an important collection there. It probably has a pretty good dollar value, too. I wouldn't just let that go. It belongs in a research library somewhere.

Have you ever heard a Louisiana tall tale about a stately mansion on some corner street... it was home to a society woman and her husband who was a prominent physician or something in the early 1800's... apparently they tortured and murdered their slaves in the attic of their own home and performed medical experiments, etc.

My elderly aunt who lives in Baton Rouge told me this story as if it were true but I can't find any documentation ... probably one of those ghost stories the kids have about some old unpainted house....
