The fourth quarter is the biggest in retailing and e-commerce. Online sales are expected to explode to $4 billion during the holiday shopping period from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day, up from $1.5 billion in the same period last year, according to Forrester Research, based in Cambridge, Mass.
