Do you not agree? > IMHO, it looks great given the limited supply of motherboards and the new architecture. The proliferation of Athlon into the small retail market started in the end of September. It will take time for Athlon to reach the same proliferation level as K6-2s. The proliferation rate was also affected by the mobo supply, which is getting better every week. tejek, I GOOFED its actually 62% Athlon penetration in the "screwdriver shop" market. re: the breakout where 53% carried the Athlon systems is a disappointment I goofed by counting one store with four locations only once in the Athlon list. Here's the correct numbers and comparison to two weeks ago: Total # locations in San Diego County: 11/5: 34, 10/22:32 Category..............10/22...%......11/5...% PIII systems 32 100% 34 100% PIII-600 systems 16 50% 27 79% Celeron systems 29 91% 24 71% Celeron 500 systems 10 31% 18 53% K6-2 systems 26 81% 28 82% K6-3 systems 20 62% 23 68% All Athlon systems 16 50% 21 62% Athlon 650 MHz 6 19% 12 35% Athlon 700 MHz 0 7 21% So, Athlon penetration increased from 50% to 62% in two weeks, while at the same time Celeron systems went DOWN by 20% while their AMD competition K6x went UP.
