Investment themes:

1. This time of year, beaten down but fundamentally sound mid-cap stocks bottom and can really outperform going into early part of next year. Example - ARX has sold off on announcement of soft earnings in next 2 Qs, starting to recover - in communication/electronics field.
Also like TWE on dips - internet brokerage house with best valuation among the internet brokers and insider buying.

2. I think best outperformance will be among quality midcap internet stocks - those with market caps in the few hundred million range with potential to grow into the 1 - 3 billion range (for 5 - 10 fold gain) over the next couple of years. Two stocks I am following are INTM and FATB. INTM has excellent internet site www.internet.com and has small venture arm - similar to early days of CMGI.

2a. FATB currently trades in frequent cycles with range of cycle about 40%. Best time to buy is on dips - maybe latter part of upcoming week as curent dip phase has just begun. Longer term it could be a 10 bagger based on e-matter concept - it is a secure way of publishing on the web - the author sets the price and keeps 50% of sales, FATB gets other 50%. The key will be the growth of e-matter. I think they need about 100,000 documents for it to start contributing in a meaningful way (they are a couple of weeks into e-matter with 3400 documents) and are a couple of Qs away from that and 1 million documents for mega-impact (ie 5 - 10 bagger) - maybe 1 - 2 years. OT - my daughter has just published work on their site: www1.fatbrain.com
