Great article in EE Times.

Startup fever follows bandwidth boom

eet.com

"In a keynote speech here, James Q. Crowe, chief executive officer of fiber-centric carrier Level 3 Communications Inc., argued that low-cost broadband services based on standardized silicon will drive communications growth, just as Moore's Law and commodity pricing have helped proliferate the PC."

Looking at a bit of a rally after Fed meeting and then that is it???

Pretty much. . .until January. Mostly, I think we will see volatility increase as November wears on. . .with volume still strong. . . and wild highs and wild lows . . both in the markets and individual stocks. Then a slow decline into December.

I had originally planned for January Effect to be first week of December. . then last week of November. . .but frankly, I think we are seeing the January effect now. . . we could see it peak out as early as next week. . .or perhaps shortly thereafter. . .but I don't see it happening in December by any means. . . I think we will be mostly ruled by Y2K fears following the Fed meeting relief rally.

Don't know about gold. . .I guess you are right. . .worth keeping eye on. . .it sure helped us get through that long summer with nice gains.

So now MSFT is considered a monopoly. . . I doubt any appeal will help at this late date. What will that mean for their stock? I would say they will trade sharply lower. . . now that will greatly hurt the Dow and Naz, since it represents both now. . . but that doesn't necessarily mean we will see an end to the spec rally in broadband and B2B tech stocks. . .

I would now think that AOL will soar. . .as if it isn't already double from a month ago. . . .SUNW and others will do well and hopefully take up some of the slack. . .but tech stocks that are heavily reliant on MSFT deals will hurt. . .so there will definitely be some rotation action on Monday. . . and we will need a scorecard to keep track.
