Back when toy stores fascinated me you could go to the practical joke stand (remember those? I forget the brand name, but all these gags packed in plastic with descriptive cardboard foldovers! Joy Buzzer ... garlic gum ... real red hot Red Hots , y'know, stuff.) One day they had stickers that were like newspaper pictures of coins. From two feet away they were really convincing. We stuck one on the shiny tile floor at the mall and watched. One guy got Real Mad when he couldn't pick it up.
