Another material misstatement of fact; as Red Hat & others deal exclusively in Linux:

"Although a few OEMs have announced their intention to pre-install Linux on some of the computers they ship, none of them plan to install Linux in lieu of Windows on any appreciable number of PC (as opposed to server) systems. "

Every year for the last decade, Microsoft's share of the market for Intel-compatible PC operating systems has stood above ninety percent. For the last couple of years the figure has been at least ninety-five percent, and analysts project that the share will climb even higher over the next few years.

Hmmmm...I wonder what share Apple has in the Macintosh OS market? Has Apple made their OS source code freely available? What about the Palm OS platform? Are there any barriers to entering these OS markets?
