A '66 Barracuda story.

A close friend of mine from high school back in the mid '70s bought a '66 Barracuda for something like $150. The first day he drove it to school it got hit in the parking lot and the insurance adjustor wrote a check for $300 on the spot for the damages. My buddy buys a new set of tires with the money and doesn't bother to fix the collision damage for months. Then he decides to go all out and spends most of the next two years of his life transforming this car into something really special. For a long time, it was known as the Bondomobile. He extended the front end 12 inches, put a wing on the back end, restored the engine (we had flames flying out of the back end once when the speedometer hit 120), redid the interior in classic late '70s tacky disco and finally painted the exterior jet black. The car looked like the Batmobile. He moved to Texas and the first day he was there he was offered more than $10,000 for the car. He turned it down.

I often wonder what happened to that car. I regretably lost touch with the guy.
