Agreed. But the best thing was that the stock would go up anyway. Are you predicting $130 on this next breakout? That looks like a reasonable target to me.

For what its worth on this board I think that the markets will likely over-react to this news and MSFt's stock will takes its beating. It will recover somewhat because - as you have already heard on this board - too many investors need more than a bag of hammers over the head to realize that the DOJ threat is still far from over (the remedy has not been announced) so they will return to this stock as if its an instinct and be burned again when the remedy announcement also sides for the DOJ.

As I mentioned last year, the DOJ case would be one of the several WOLVES that are circling around MSFT. The Windows2000 delays another of the MSFT wolves that is growing larger teeth. And there is the Internet and its push towards "open standards" which breaks MSFT's biggest past key to success (hold a monopoly on a proprietary critical set of solutions). These wolves that I mentioned are now breathing down MSFT's neck and today, one of the big wolves took a bite at MSFT.

I think another good point made on this board is the countless and more than expected class action suits that will be filed now as a result of this ruling.

Are any of you getting the feeling that MSFT is starting to get that look and feel of a tobacco company?

Long-winded answer - I dont see $130 for a LONG TIME for MSFT. I personally think those "split every year days are over for MSFT". The Gravy Train capital appreciation days for MSFT stock-holders are coming to an end.

Just my Opinion. But whats that really worth?
