I talked to one of the officers at GUMM....He said they were surprised and dismayed by the AJIC decision.... It basically stemmed from "too much" publicity which got way out of GUMM's control....He credited Edelman with the USA Today input, but everything else seemed to steamroller off of that.... Apparently the academicians felt their thunder was usurped and they had a "hissy" fit.

The big news however is that business has been so incredible they may have to hold off advertisement because they are struggling to meet demand (redirecting resources). They are bringing Zicam in the back door and shovelling it out the front door....(They have a shortage of pumps developing)...There is additional manufacturing being put to work to increase capacity to 300K bottles per week...I said I had heard that was to get Zicam to Asia and the officer said they are having to delay that in order to take care of demand in this country...

He said they had no idea demand would be that huge and stores had not ordered enough the first go around...He would not talk about earnings but he did say he was going to have to reconsider earlier estimates based on current activity.

I couldn't get much out of him on nicotine, but it didn't sound eminent....

One interesting anecdote brought to the company's attention was that in one store a guy went in and bought the last four bottles of Zicam. Another guy saw him and asked for one....It almost got into a fight when the 1st guy wouldn't share...

There is some awfully good news out there.

One thing is pretty certain. AJIC is not likely to publish the second clinical. (That clinical is not yet complete by the way). In fact, the officer I talked to seemed to wonder if the results would be presented to medical journals or simply announced....
