WOW..WHAT A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE ;-) Miss Magill
I knew and I worked at one time for the Accounting Firm Coopers Lybrand..in Springfield with her sister Edie..Miss Margaret Fahey was your teacher ! ! ! ! ! Her mother was also a teacher..They could have also been neighbors, since Margaret never married and lived at home..The Stevens who owned the Funeral home caused a split between
my neighbor and his wife..lol.. I was not there in the 50's , but not much had changed when I moved there in 67 ;-) That was Freshwater Pond..you skated on and it was across from the only theatre in town..and Dr. Robbins office. My children skated there..The name Gourlie belongs to a Dr .who may have lived near you..Crystal Lake was in I believe in Agawam Mass.. The
only Franconia I remember is Franconia Notch, N.H. You sure could go sledding or Skiing there..I have been on that slope many times...I am the only MOM you will ever know that hosted the H.S. Graduation Party of 750 kids until the police disbanded the party..then they went down to the "Pits" near the Ct, River to continue the party..LOL Do you remember the old Highway Diner?? Brainard School?? my children went there after I pulled them out of Catholic School..(I was born into a family of
Teachers) You don't beat kids with the Rope you wear around your waist. or at least not mine..St. Patricks Church is still there..
and quite active.. I forget the name of their School..I do recall St Martha's..Do you recall The name Troiano??? The Oil Co..
They ran that town..another name you might remember is TYLER..their two sons became Attys..last year they came close to being disbarred..something about running illegal Gambling Junkets to Las Vegas..Do you remember who the Police Chief was??? Walter Skower became Chief and everyone owned a
piece of him' ;-) Your father made a wise choice, because Bigelow Sanford moved South soon after he left...the world gets smaller..;-) You must have been there when the first MacDonalds was built on Enfield, St..and Dairy Queen followed.
Memories keep flooding back...Where in Virginia did you move..? I have family in that state..and I have lived in Arlington and Alexandria..as well a D.C. where I once lived in the NW section. this is just amazing..I cannot remember your Piano teachers first name..???? take a stab at that one..BTW It was not Enfield when we moved there..It was Thompsonville.;-)
It sprawled after Hallmark Cards Distribution Center came into
town..Then it became Enfield which encompassed Hazardville
Thompsonville and part of Somers...Absorbine Jr. was formulated by a man who lived in Hazardville..which also has a lot of American Revolution History as does..Hartford..ENUFFFFF
