Chuzzlewit,

So the distinction I draw is that some growth companies prosper by taking market share from their competitors (Dell is a good example), while others prosper by creating markets (MSFT is a good example). I believe that SEBL is closer to Dell than MSFT in this characteristic, while CTXS is closer to MSFT than Dell.

I get your point, and it's a valid one, but I think the brush strokes regarding Microsoft are a little too broad. The company is famous (infamous?) for getting into markets long after they have been created by others and using their power and resources to take market share away from the earlier innovators.

Regarding your comments about value, I also agree with you but only to a point. For those who are as entrenched in using a PEG ratio as I am, one reason it is a valid measure worth adding to an arsenal of other valid measures is that it inherently has strong ties to a discounted cash flow of future earnings. An expert on the subject required a lengthy article to explain that so I won't try to go into it here.

"I wonder how many people we're boring with these discussions that allude to the idea that value is questionable"

MB and Chuzz.,your discussions are anything but boring. Please continue. After reading 400 celebratory posts on QCOM(which was fun), its back to work on successful investing.
