Thank you for your post. Pls. note that the Roman Jewish Community has historically been a Safardim congregation, with a very small Ashkanizim minority. Zoller was a Pole and and not a Safarad. He was the Chief Rabbi of small Ashkanzim community. Call him the chief rabbi of Rome is like calling a catholic priest the head of Church of England! Zoller abandaned his congaregtion in 1943 and went inot hiding with the help of Vatican that choose to save a choosen few, and he paid back his saviours by abondong his God and converted.
