Hi Mardy:

There is no white paper on VOFDM. One can only
make educated guesses about the overall system from
the technical papers published by G. Raleigh and
V. K. Jones, two of Clarity Wireless founders. G.
Raleigh and V. K. Jones published together a
paper on the theoretical underpinnings of VOFDM
in IEEE J. Selected Areas in Comm. in May 99.
Last year, G. Raleigh and his Stanford advisor,
J. Cioffi (one of the lead developers of DMT-ADSL),
published another paper in IEEE Trans. Comm.
G. Raleigh's Ph.D. thesis is also available,
but I have not seen it yet. From these documents,
it is not terribly difficult to develop a fairly
good idea of the VOFDM system architecture.

Tracking channel changes is no big deal-- it can be
done by sending training signals from time to time,
or perhaps even blindly. Remember that for OFDM
the channel is decomposed into subchannels, so that
the tracking can be accomplished separately for each
subchannel.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
