El: That analyst is far too conservative respecting potential gains in Compaq in the next 6-9-18 months.

But you notice how they all say its "cheap". Jubak says, too cheap to buy, others say the opposite. But if you consider the p/e it is not cheap at all. It's p/e is in the high 20's, probably 30 after yesterday's rise. IBM and HWP are in the low 20's. Only DELL in the 50's is higher.
By all other measures it is cheap. I think that the market wants to adjust the p/e in line with the other measurements by increasing earnings estimates for year 2000 but MC won't co-operate. So we have an anomaly.

Maybe that's what they are going to unveil on 10th November in New York - an ANOMALY.

NOV 6, 1999, M2 Communications - Compaq today announced that America
Online, the world's leading interactive services company, has agreed to
purchase additional Compaq AlphaServer systems running on the Tru64
UNIX(r) operating system. The new AlphaServer systems will be used in
addition to existing Compaq NonStopTM Himalaya and AlphaServer systems
currently installed at AOL.

A Compaq customer for more than five years, AOL now boasts more than
18 million members and has reported over 1,200,000 simultaneous users
during its "prime time". Based on the Compaq Alpha chip, the industry's
fastest microprocessor, AlphaServer systems deliver users high-speed
processing for fast navigation in this demanding environment.

Terry Laber, vice president of Systems Operation at America Online,
said, "Our key priority at AOL is to ensure that our members continue
to have the best possible online experience, and as we continue to
rapidly build our network, we're pleased to build on our relationship
with Compaq. Compaq, with its breadth of solutions, is able to help us
deliver a network that is both scalable and reliable."

Gareth Cadwallader, Compaq's UK enterprise director said; "AOL and
other leading ISPs and ecommerce companies are building their
businesses on Compaq servers and NonStop solutions to create an
infrastructure that meets the 24 x 7 demands of the internet age."

AOL uses Compaq NonStopTM Himalaya and Alpha Servers systems with the
Compaq NonStopTM SQL/MP database to support several of its business
functions. Today at AOL, the Compaq NonStopTM Himalaya system is
tightly integrated with servers from Compaq and other vendors.

Compaq NonStopTM Himalaya systems, widely regarded as the world
leader in business-critical availability and massive scalability are
increasingly attractive as powerful engines in large-scale
Internet-based infrastructures. Their ability to deliver both
availability and scalability is proving to be particularly valuable to
large ISPs, government infrastructure providers, and global enterprises
that are building large Internet-based business environments.

Compaq's working relationship with AOL reflects its commitment to be
the industry leader in helping companies exploit the advantages of
Internet-based enterprise computing. As part of the Compaq NonStopTM
eBusiness strategy, the company provides

a broad array of platforms, solutions, and services, designed to
provide the customer with the 24 x 7 availability, scalability, and
data integrity that Internet-based computing requires. This agreement
is in addition to AOL's strategic relationships with other technology
providers.

Company Background Compaq is the second largest computer company in
the world and a leading provider of hardware, software, solutions and
services to provide customers with competitive business advantage in
today's Non-Stop eBusiness world.
