i said it before and i'll say it again...

twister, you're missing the obvious. Now you have something to blame M$'s leadership demise on.

You can tell it to your grandkids- "well there me and MSFT were, cruising along with a healthy P/E (hey, have I told you kids about P/E yet?), innovating and bringing new technology to consumers, and pride to Americans everywhere. Suddenly, these cry baby Billionaires come up with some obscure federal law. Then Ex President Boies starts tricking Bill Gates into thinking M$ didn't have enough attorneys. Then, in the year 2000. M$ was forced into replacing all their 'technology' people with 'legal' people, and the rest is history".

what all of you are missing, and i can't say i'm surprised, is that monopolies are not ILLEGAL. you have to prove that CONSUMERS, not competitors have been harmed. Other than the four guys who post here, I can't think of a one.

Perhaps you can't think of any, but Judge Jackson can. Read the finding beginning with paragraph 408, the section entitled: "The Effect On Consumers of Microsoft's Efforts To Protect The Applications Barrier To Entry."

Note that the effect described is not a beneficial one in the court's view.

I disagree with you twister on SUN. That's obvious..

BUt, I completely agree with you about MSFT.

The boo-hoo competitors that were helping the DOJ are the ones that will be indicted later for other things

Consumers WERE NOT HARMED.

Competitors were..

All sun devotees are wrong in taking delight at this company's unjustified attack on it by the DOJ

AOL, SUN & Netscape are THRIVING.....

Consumers have multi-platform choices with appliances and Java/Jini appliances coming.

the DOJ is out of control
