It is my opinion that I am in no rush to make bad deals with CHINA. If QCOM makes a deal with China, whom then steals and produces the technology, Qcom will damage itself. If CHINA was able to steal CDMA, as they have stolen so many other technologies, Qcom would lose the tight grip over their royalty streams. This posibility makes a deal with CHINA very dangerous. The Korean's, and Japenese would quikly buy non-royalty cheap Chinese technoloy instead of Q's. Though Q would have legal recourse in INTL courts that would do litlle for Qcom investors. I think IRWIN realizes he really is dealing with the devil, and a bad deal could be a heavy blow to Qcom's future. On the other hand in a few years Q's CDMA will be adopted in 80% of the world. At that point China would have to deal on Q terms, and capitulate. Unless they want to be left alone in the dark. Therfore I say that a China deal could be a pandora's box, so be carefull what you wish for. IRWIN knows not to turn any technology over to the chinese, so he wont make the deal. Thats OK with me.
