Soundview has bashed PAIR for years now. I do not doubt that they are net short the stock. Mr. Sarkar, I believe, is not being quite honest when he says he rates PAIR as a buy. Now that the shares are starting to rise, he's trying to beat them back down. The problem is, with PAIR he'll probably succeed.

<, management, (like us) is otherwise at a loss to explain the recent strength in the equity. >

Good grief, Larry. Do these management guys ever do us a favor? I mean say something like: 'well of course our equity is strong, we've got the best product in Avidia, market must finally be recognizing its potential. Our peers would be crazy not to be looking at us for a takeover.'

Instead we get 'beats me why, we still are sucking wind this quarter, our guidance hasn't changed, yeah I filed to sell some shares into the unexplainable rally.'

The takeover/split-up/spinoff/maximize value rumor has to be somewhat based on some fact, is my guess. I think the shareholders (big and small) are pushing PAIR fairly hard to get something done, sooner rather than later. I know I am through a weekly email and monthly phone call.
