It looks like a scam to me and there will be filed class action lawsuits, especially when Insider dumps come out.

TRIIBoy,

About two years ago AT&T offered early retirement to a lot of salaried managers. Some of them got separation "benefits" of several hundred thousand dollars. I don't know how far up the ladder the offers went, but it could have simply been that the exec was looking for somewhere to hang his hat.
