Sorry to read about the injury caused to your family. I don't know if you realize this, but MADD fights very hard to keep people charged with drunk driving from being let out. The reason I mention it is that you said something about wise-ass attorneys who get MADD involved. I have never practiced law in Florida, but here in Virginia, MADD does everything it can to send drunk drivers to jail for as long as possible. I know it used to get a slap on the wrist, my own mother had two drunk driving charges and did community service for both of them, but it's not like that anymore.
