That's why Europe is slipping further and further behind the US.
Remember IBM? They were the King of both hardware and software.
They created their own character set, EBCDIC; largely ignoring ASCII.
That's like Xerox creating their own paper or Kodak creating their own proprietary film!
Does anybody really think we would have a Microsoft or an Intel if IBM had not been sued for antitrust?
