Hi TP,

Although I've only monitored the last few posts on this thread, I noticed your post and would like to "contribute" an alternate perspective. From your post, clearly you have been involved with microcomputers "for a while". I used MS Basic on my CPM "homebrew". You seem to assume that the alternative to Softie is diversity. This also seems to be the Feds "point of view". I'm not so sure. I think there might be something akin to a "tornado" dynamic at work that leads to one (or mostly one) micro OS. So if not MSFT, the question becomes who (sing) not who (pl). For myself, I'm glad it wasn't IBM. I think that would've been a real disaster. JMHO.
