I first worked for a PC seller in 1982. The statements in your post are just plain wrong. But you are obviously so biased that I suspect its not worth trying to enlighten you.

Brian, MSFT would have had no reason to make exclusive agreements if there were no competition. Here's some proof: Less than a year ago, Gateway did offer a line of PCs which had Corel WordPerfect Suite as the main bundled application suite. That disappeared within months. Do you wonder why? I don't. Oh, you can still order a PC from both Gateway and Dell with Corel WordPerfect Suite preloaded. But you also must accept an MS application suite. And you have to pay full retail extra for the Corel product to be preloaded. And furthermore, if you missed my prior post, Quantex Microsystems has for many years offered the Corel WordPerfect Suite as the only preloaded application suite. One company does it. One choice. But with the #1 seller of PCs to consumers (Gateway), and the #1 seller of PCs worldwide (Dell), there is no choice. And it's Microsoft's fault. And this is just ONE complaint about MS business practices depriving consumers and businesses of choice. I'm sure there are many more such examples in the DOJ report. The bottom line is, MSFT has been way too aggressive, and now they're going to have to change.
