In a previous post you stated: "It is twice as expensive after all"

In my service area [Bell Atlantic} we have a second line to the house. Each line is capped with a minimum monthly usage charge that maxes at $25 per month for line and usage. This is tarriffed by the state PUC.

The total charge for my narrowband ISP package is $25 [tel] plus $19.99 for the ISP which results in $45 per month. Therefore the total cost to convert to cable modem is no more than or less than a narrowband solution.

No doubt penetration rates would be higher in such locations. I wonder how many other people have monthly charges for local calling.

Wow. This just proves how the internet is changing the world. Where or how could I have evergotten this quality of information before. (not from some 800#!) I have saved you messages and will study them until I can be a convesant as you all. Thank you for your time and your talent.

PS: I remember (and worked with) the dial on the phone, the hammer on the typewriter keys and the GESTETNER machine. I remember when my office got its first calculator and it was as big as a 27 inch TV and all it could do was add, subtract, multiply and divide! That's why I am so in awe today.

E. Davis;

FWIW, have you been to broadcast.com

you can watch old B movies for free. All you have to do is register.

On24 has to be the best quality of video I have seen so far:
on24.com

Just a glimpse of what the future holds.

On another note; when was the Portland ruling supposed to come? November 9 or is there an indefinite wait?

Later
