"I saw a program on PBS last year about wireless phones in India. There is an ongoing development program to provide people in rural areas with telephone service via wireless phones. The way it works, one woman is selected (via an application process) in each village within the program zone. She is given a loan to obtain the phone and start with a credit on her service bill. People come to her house to use the phone and pay her. The project is a real success: the women have nice little businesses and their fellow villagers, their customers, for the first time have the ability to keep in touch with their relatives in urban areas."

given the above scenario, is there any doubt that cdma will prevail over gsm in india. since gsm is considered a far more costly
"highend" product.
