Look at bell atlantics numbers....or any other RBOCs. Much of their revenue gain the last few years has been from additional POTS [plain old telephone] lines. The growth has been enormous.

Do you pay local calling minutes?

Another irony of this issue is that GTE is filing an antitrust suit against AT&T/@home. Its probably somewhere in the public records that GTE complained that their 5ESS switches were being congested because of narrowband ISP usage. They probably even recieved rate relief/compensation because of usage. They buffaloed the public into feeling sorry for them as they made millions in the sales of additional lines. The reality is that they don't want these lines to be disconnected as @ATHM services rollout.

I hope the PUCs revisit GTEs rates after significant subscribers churn to broadband which bypass GTE switches. If they are so concerned about antitrust and the consumer they should give some money back as their burdens are relieved by @ATHM.
