EL, since Dell has split twice since cpq last split, to be fair Dell should be valued at 163.00 per share to cpq's 21.88 per share. I therefore pick never as a price convergence.

El: Instead of guessing when the price of CPQ and DELL will converge, or 4Q earnings, how about a competition to guess what will happen on Monday?

Scenario 1 -

- rise from $20 7/8 (the true close) to $21 7/8 was artificial caused by a few late trades, probably short covering ahead of the weekend:

- upward momentum early Monday will be troubled by market uncertainty about the MSFT ruling and by uncertainty about its effects on COMPAQ:

- initially the price will retreat to $19 1/2 - $20 1/2 range: later it will stabilise on heavier than normal volume and towards the end of the day will rise to $21 before falling back to close at $20 1/2:

Scenario 2

- the momentum generated on Friday, anticipation of good press on November 10th and short covering will maintain price at $21 - 21 7/8 for first half of day, it will move to $23 and close at $21 1/4.
