Goutama - RE: "Ath 700 $2099(after $500 rebates)
PIII 700 $1699 (after $400 rebates) )"

One BIG differnece between these two -

The Athlon system is NOT build to order, so that means you can go to Best Buy and buy an Athlon 700 system TODAY.

The FLOPPERMINE system IS build to order. Looking at current availability, there is no guarantee Compaq will be able to begin making your system right away. Who knows when Compaq will get the chip to be able to make systems.

On their website where you can view the in store ad you will notice that Best Buy is STILL saying FLOPPERMINE has 512K L2 cache.

Thanks for the run down of this week's ads.

This is the 6'th straight week, that Compaq has been pushing hard their wares.

Goutama, there has been talk that CPQ is starting to get its act together under the new guy....if fact the stock had a jump up this past week.

Speaking of stock prices, we will know if AMD is really on the move when it clears $24-24 1/2; if and when it does, the stock will resume a longer term trend started back in April/May that was interrupted in September.....and at a faster pace than in the past.

After that, the next hurdle is overtaking $33, the 52 week high, which probably will occur right around the Q4 report.

All of this is assuming that Thursday's CC is a good one.
