wondering if -- and just how much-- we might pull back this week due to the MSFT trial results

can't say i think msft trial is too relevant to q. on friday, qcom was up 30+ on 11mm share volume; meanwhile, msft drifted lower in anticipation of the news. msft is widely hated anyway; either they will settle or this will be one of those tobacco kinda things that will drag on for years, and if they break msft up, no biggie. "parts greater than the sum". i think in fact there should be much rejoicing in silicon valley, would expect some upward pressure in non-msft tech. qcom may trade down for its own reasons (namely, profit-taking after an incredible runup), but i doubt due to msft. one nice thing about the market (which i think is key to the bulls longevity and pisses off the MORAL BEARS to no end) is that we investors do not really believe in santa claus; i.e., there are no immortals--dell's been killed, coke's been killed, ibm's been killed, cpq's been killed, tyco's been killed, ge will one day hopefully be killed, internuts been killed and revived several times, not to mention whole sectors being put in the trash bin--former "darling" or "leader" status of any one co. is no insurance against execution of high pe if results do not hold up or "sentiment turns"...and repeatedly, despite the crowing of experts, the death of "leaders" like ibm has not hurt the rest of tech. kill the losers, stick with the winners. that is what the market seems to be saying. jmho, mm
