Re: "I believe that recent weakness in Dell may be a result of not only the comment by Meredith concerning short-term cost pressures (DRAM pricing), but also a "show me" attitude taken by investors regarding Dell's entrance into new businesses."

Yep. And the "show me" was there before the public concern was given making it seem as though Dell was "showing" the negative. This was all the shorts needed to go to work at squeezing out more on every seemingly tech negative event. This to me is a great indication that the end is near for Dell shorts!

They must hit it hard now as they know once the truth of the earnings comes out they will not have any chance at all. Else they will let it rise and then pounce as shorts often do but they are showing impatience!

Chuzzlewit, RE: I believe that recent weakness in Dell may be a result of not only the comment by Meredith concerning short-term cost pressures (DRAM pricing), but also a "show me" attitude taken by investors regarding Dell's entrance into new businesses.

One other issue that the Street considers pretty important is that many on the Street feel that they were misled by DELL management at last month's analysts meeting. They feel, and I agree, that DELL either a) knew of the DRAM pricing issue before the analysts' meeting and hoped it would go away, or b) didn't know about the issue even though it was clearly apparent that DRAM contract prices would rise. In the first instance, DELL management was not completely forthcoming. In the second instance, incompetent.
