The sector as a whole, I think you're right. Individual plays will still be hot, of course, but they'll be the exception, not the rule.

Read a very interesting, and I think insightful, column in Fortune mag a few months back. The thought was that while the common wisdom is the Internet will kill the middleman, the Ingram Micros, instead we should be seeing that they're simply going to move into the direct-to-consumer biz over the Web and kill the Web retailer like COOL, Microwarehouse, etc. Makes some sense to me: the author points out that distribution is getting more and more discrete (ie. able to efficiently deal with small drop-ship orders) as technology makes it more effective, and these are the guys who have the warehouses, the distribution knowledge, the contacts and contracts with the manufacturers/software houses for the product. They'll not die, but rather simply start doing the e-tail themselves.

What do you think of that?

If I am not mistaken, what Jim Cramer was saying is that the bricks and mortar sales will be just as good if not better than the ecommerce side. I don't think he was saying that the ecommerce would not be good, but just not as good as everyone is projecting.
