PMSW: You have run afield with the intention of my post. The government had a function in organizing the one mass weapon of distruction because having a lot of people in different corps. do it would have been a little insecure. But other than projects like that it is better that the government keep its distance from involving itself in business. Look how well the internet has done with a minimum of gov't. interference. I am just suggesting hat the government should stay out of business as much as possible and that central planning is really what stifles innovation. The guy I was responding to was complaining how MSFT had changed certain software protocols to suit themselves and I responded that the market place would deal with that faster than the government could. I further suggested that techies who want everything done iaw some inflexible standard were as much of a threat to innovation as anything. JFD
