Poet,

I'm afraid that's my last question here,

Sorry to learn that. I think you are valuable to the thread and I think the thread could have continued to be valuable for you too.

I've just finished reading an afternoon-ful of posts here, concluding with Jill's resignation, which has been greeted with silence.

I didn't see her "resignation." I'm equally sorry about that for the same reasons I mentioned regarding your decision.

I will post only where I feel welcome and included.

Only you can decide what you feel, but I suggest that you reconsider the decision in the context that none of us, especially Merlin, are going to be universally welcomed.

I continue to be amazed (and amused) by the feathers ruffled by my use of the term "kicking ass",

Me too, but I respect their decision to have their feathers ruffled. While I am amused, I have to think you're really not amused or you wouldn't have such a strong reaction.

by a staunch and unbending allegiance to thread personalities who act with impugnity.

I don't see anything that's staunch or unbending. I do see flexibility and understanding that none of is perfect. I don't see impugnity.

I wish you and all the others who are so vexed by the current "events" the very best of luck and keep the hope that you will return to the thread.

To Poet and Jill,

<I'm afraid that's my last question here, as I've just finished reading an afternoon-ful of posts here, concluding with Jill's resignation, which has been greeted with silence.>

I sincerely hope that you and Jill will continue to post, and not turn tail because of what seems to be a generational misunderstanding. As one of the few women who just stopped lurking yesterday, I would be dismayed to see you or Jill resign yourself to exile. It was Jill's post about the MSFT ruling that prompted me to jump in here. I've also noted that you've received a warm response from so many members of the thread after your personal post yesterday. As one or another of the contributors to the thread has said. "Let's move on." Nothing will change if you both leave.

I wish you all nothing but the best.

poet,
i hope that wasn't good bye.
most folks spend their entire life trying to find a winning team. this is it. we are there.
this is a kick "A" team.
a "player" hopes to get on a team like this. i cannot imagine quitting the superbowl winner.

on a winning team, there is room for individual personalities, but not much. all effort is directed towards the team's continued success.

i was invited over here several times by stan to talk about rmbs. then again by others to explain cree. in the process i bookmarked the thread and became addicted.

in my first career, i thrived on confrontation. my goal now is to enjoy my successes, but above all to have a nice day and hang around folks that have a common winning goal. yes, i like winners. i get my share of crappy pm's...so what? i am not afraid of making mistakes. my goal is to contribute to the team win.

i respect and defended your right to dance in the endzone after the touchdown. it is appropriately imo a team dance. but it may not be overdone because in the big leagues you will be penalized for delay of game.
that was straight life's simple message as i understood it.

the message from mike buckley and uncle frank is clear to me. brief exuberance will be tolerated. you are guilty of that. behavior destructive to the team will not be tolerated. if you quit, you will be guilty of that.

the coach would say dump your losers, stroke your winners. this is a winner.
unclewest

ps. jill and anyone else that has a bit of a chip, it is very important to understand the coaches roles in developing a winning team. we have the greatest coaches. may i suggest, put your egos aside and play for the team. that is all the coach asked for.
do you really expect to find a better coach?
or a better team?
