Bob, gleaned your core points - "in 5 years the PC will be a consumer device" and "I will continue to use WIN98 on my desktop until something better comes along at a cheaper price". I can agree with that for the most part since in 5 years we could have cranial chip implants for all I know; in fact I think some people are running alpha versions of buggy Java processors on this thread ;) What I do know is that for the $60-80 bucks it's pretty damn hard to find a better desktop OS - can't see that changing short term of 1-2 years.
