tim hope all goes well with your dad. mine is 83 and has alzeimers and lives in a home. last time i visited i cried like i haven't since i was a kid. you have my sympathies my friend charlie

tim, been there with grandmother in nursing home back in late 80's and ex-girlfriend's father in coma in assisted living - very draining, being there, on the commute, takes over your life. Sometimes u feel like u wish you could do more - being there is very important, talk to the nurses (the more they see you care , the more they care for your relatives - and don't take any crap). One last thing - sometimes there will be periods of non-response - rem, the human touch speaks wonders.
