You still did not answer my question about "What is your definition of Monopoly and based on that definition how do you come to the conclusion that Microsoft own a monopoly" !!!! As you pay additional to the hardware vendors, well , ask for a refund from the hardware vendors, and it is your own fault to pay extra !!!!!

I am not forced to *run* Windows, but historically I have been forced to PAY for it by all the major PC vendors.

Anyone sophisticated enough to run something other than Windows is sophisticated enough to assemble their own PC. None of the alternatives are easier to install and run than Windows.

Build your own machine, put Linux on it, and stop whining. You'll get the OS you want and you'll get quality components instead of the piece of sh|t $2 modem and sound combo cards that the big boys use to cut corners and the price.

Netflyer...Gerald might be more effective in his comments, if he were to address the point you made. That is, when you buy a PC, you are forced to pay for the OS, whether you want to use it or not.. And ONLY because MSFT is able to exercise it's monopoly power beyond that LEGALLY permitted....
The judge made that point and many of us have complained about just that phenomenon in the past. When I bought my last computer, I would have preferred to have had ANY O/S other than Windows 98 --- even Windows 95. But I had no such choice...and if I DID, I would still have had to pay for Windows 98. That is monopoly power misplaced. And Microsoft won't get to do it in the future,,,,thank god..
