Hey I need some trading help. yeah for real.

I'm working on developing risk management strategies for trading more volatile stocks. By way of history, I've spent most of this year trading first DJ-30 and then NAZ 100 (AAPL, AMGN, NXTL, ALTR, etc). Now I've started taking positions in the hotter issues. Traded DIGL and BVSN today for example. Haven't traded momo stocks much since 1997 and the current environment is more perilous for sure.

My positions are good and I'm getting the moves but the pullbacks have been more unpredictable and are wiping out decent profits. I've reduced position size but am not sure if that is enough. I often trade pure momentum exits (sell the first rally while in progress) but routinely hold pullbacks and sell the next bounce. Just how much should I be loosening my mental stops and allowing the positions to wriggle?

Frankly my average losses historically remain under 3/8th of a point. I'm willing to give a little to get a little but if I can't find some ways to keeps losses in this vicinity, I'll just go back to the old dinosaurs.

Are there folks out there trading these issues but avoiding larger losses along with the gains?

Alan
