BGR, there is no doubt that the extent to which the Windows environment can be eliminated will be a positive for both the software companies and the economy at large.

Think of the productivity gains when people are not forced to wait endlessly while their computers re-boot after all of the Windows crashes. Think of the cost savings in not having to buy ever increasing amounts of RAM to deal with the bloated lines of Soft code that does Lord knows what besides crash. <G>

Regarding the effect on the stock market, I disagree with you that a breakup would be as positive as you and many analysts think. Soft is THE most important stock in S&P and NDQ and NDX so any effect on it would effect the indexes at large. In addition, it is one of the most heavily owned institutional stocks. We will have to see...
