Hi Scott and all,

More on topic (will get back to maths/law/evolution..and chaos before too long..)

What is the scoop with Bowstreet? Why isn't NOVL all over this little company?

I like this statement:

<<Many people seem to enjoy seeing others dealt with in a negative way ... many are hoping to see pain, suffering, and mental anguish ... and are wanting to see the pain in the voice and eyes of the people involved. But I just can not sit here and agree that wishing these things on to other humans is "right" ...>>

And yet you conviently leave out this company you are so willing to defend actually practiced this same behavior!?! Did we forget the "Kill Phillipe" shirts worn by MSFT people (in reference to Phillipe Kahn) during the late '80s?

Or other such tidbits to come from MicroSmurfs? Please don't ask me to have pity on the schoolyard bully after he's taken my lunch money all these years (for upgrades that don't cut it and never live up to the marketing hype).

On another note - why is it that since the early '90s hardware and software prices have DROPPED consistantly but for Windows - the price has risen or maintained?

Why does it still cost $89 for a Windows 98 upgrade?

I recall hard drives costing near $100 per MB now cost pennies per MB. Video cards costing over $350 in 1994 now cost around $150-$190 (let's not factor in the advances in chip design and form factor and refresh rates etc). My first DELL PC cost well over $3000 but now "fully loaded" from Dell start around $2100... I could go on here but you get the picture don't you?

Please say that you do because such a brilliant young man as yourself has to see the truth here.

Why doesn't the price of the OS change?

LACK OF COMPETITION.
