That only competitor at that time is a monopolist in browser market !!!!! You forgot to mention it and I add it for you !!!!! Now SUNW gave away the Star Office to drive Microsoft away !!!!! MS did not give away the browser , it still charge the window OS and the browser is part of Window !!! Remember , there is no free lunch in this world, and companies need to make a profit to survive. Only your MOM will give you free lunch !!!!

<<MS gave away the browser to drive out the only competitor>> Those nasty people. The only problem is that they are STILL giving it away. Antitrust violation requires harm to the consumer, NOT SPECULATION that microsoft may raise prices in the future. If they do to gouge the public, then AT THAT TIME, you may have a case. THAT is the law. Anittrust law does not protect competitors from another company undercutting the price to consumers.
