EKOR Application at Chernobyl Nuclear Accident Site —Update

November 11, 1999 - WASHINGTON, DC. EUROTECH Ltd. (OTC: BB:EURO) The Joint Project between EUROTECH, Ltd. and the (Chernobyl) Shelter to apply radiation-resistant EKOR at the failed nuclear power plant number 4 is progressing ahead of schedule. The first application of EKOR, planned before the end of this year, will be directly upon the melted nuclear fuel-containing mass (FCM) underneath the failed reactor vessel.

The Shelter Project and EuroAsian Physical Society Scientists, inventors of EKOR, selected the FCM site to be coated with EKOR. The application site is located in the bubble pool at the elevation 0.0 of plant number 4, two floors directly beneath the failed reactor and inside the sarcophagus, which encloses the plant. This site selection will provide an excellent demonstration of the ability to apply EKOR and exhibit its performance in the most severe environment. Radiation levels in this area are about 1300 rads per hour on contact. (A lethal dose is about 350 rads). Extensive laboratory testing, the equivalent of hundreds of years at this Chernobyl site, has demonstrated no degradation of EKOR containment properties. Photographs of the planned application site may be viewed in EUROTECH's website (http://www.eurotechltd.com).

This is the first of several stages of application planned in Chernobyl that includes various application methods for EKOR coatings and foams in the suppression of radioactive dust and debris, as well as, FCM isolation and encapsulation.

EKOR was created by the group of the scientists from Kurchatov Institute for
General and Nuclear Physics and associated laboratories specifically for the
purpose of addressing Shelter problems. EKOR was selected by the Shelter
management for this isolation project because of its radioactive-fire-environmental corrosion resistance and ability to maintain these
properties for 100's of years.
