Also, there is a reason why the president has a huge intelligence and national security apparatus, as well as the State Department. Anyone who comes into the job will alter his views in detail, on the assumption that this apparatus is not merely a waste of time. That is why it is prudent not to shoot from the hip as a candidate, because the president (or vice- president) has the advantage in information and advice. jbe, are the others so well versed in foreign affairs? Just by being a senator, doesn't make Bradley better qualified in the subject. Buchanan would probably like to blow them all up. McCain sees through the eyes of a soldier. I respect all soldiers but, their slant on foreign policy is a bit skewed. And Gore?---forget it! Why didn't any body give him a quiz? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. TD
