That could be it, or it could be that he was just too clever to fall into the trap. I think his response is what I would have said in Bush's shoes the first time, knowing all too well that my memory is unreliable. I may not have said it as eloquently as he did, and there I am sure that time to formulate a response did help, but I'd have said something like,"uh-uh, no way, I'm not gonna play that game with you."
